We live in an old style unit without its own water meter, I would like to see in this digital world where by an attachment or device be attached to each unit who do not have their own water meters, to read correctly usage so owners only pay for the water used per unit. Some units have six people living in them and other unit one or two persons living in them but have to pay to subsidise other peoples usage.

Answer: Hi Norman,

There will be a few processes to go through to see if this is possible. Firstly, your building’s plumbing and drainage will have to be set up in a way that allows for the new water meters to be installed and activated successfully.

You can contact your committee or body corporate manager, who will then need to hire a plumber to assess the building for the possibility of installing water metering device.

If it is a possibility, you will need to raise it at the next AGM, and reach an agreement with the committee to move forward with the proposal, as well as raising the appropriate funds.
