We have been having problems with the visitor parking and would like residents to stop parking in the visitors spots. Where should I go to for help? – Alan, NSW
Q: We have been having problems with the visitor parking. Residents believe it is okay to park there, as everybody has two garages each. Four residents are parking both of their vehicles in the visitors’ spots. We would like them to stop parking in the visitors spots. I have spoken to local council and they don’t oversee private visitor parking. We have our AGM meeting in four weeks and would like to know where we should go for help.
A: You may need to review the by-laws to ensure the correct action can be taken. If the committee are within their rights, then you could look into making an application to NCAT. An offender can be fined $1,100, and an repeat offender (who breached the by-law again within 12 months of being fined) can be fined $2,200.
