I am actually not satisfied that visitor parking is in front of my unit. Can you help me if there are any rules about the locations of visitor parking and the rules, how we can make an agreement about that? – Hamed, VIC

Q: We are living in a complex of 4 units with a narrow road where units are in one side of that narrow road and each unit has a garage and often each of us parks our car in front of its garage.

We are the last unit at the end of that narrow road which there is just a place in front of our unit which is located as visitor parking.

Now my question is, is there any rules about visitor parking?

I am actually not satisfied that visitor parking is in front of my unit. Surely there is no place in all over that narrow road in front of all units for any visitor parking except mine (I am the last unit).

My idea is we can totally remove visitor parking since just 4 units may not need visitor parking. Or I can claim that why the visitor parking should be exactly in front of my unit and in front of my windows which may cause troubles in my privacy.

Even there is a toilet in front of my unit beside that visitor parking also which I have also some concerns about that.

Can you help me if there are any rules about the locations of visitor parking and the rules, how we can make an agreement about that?

 

A: You will need to check the plan of subdivision to see if the road is common property or not.

The same document will confirm the position of any visitor car space and the toilet, which may have been a consent condition when the property was built. If the road is common property you may wish to bring this up at your next owners corporation meeting about changing how it is used.
