Q: Hi there, I am new to strata community title. A recent structural Engineers report I conducted on my property indicated that a large tree close to the property could be the suspected cause of the lateral movement on my stand alone town house. As far as I'm aware the tree is located on community land & pushing a retaining wall against by wood bearers & post holding up the property. Is it the body corporates responsibility to check the safety of the tree in regards to the house?

A: For matters occurring on common property, yes, this will be the body corporate committee’s responsibility to ensure that the tree is not causing structural changes to your lot.
