Are there any tests that can be undertaken to confirm if noise transmission levels are above what is considered acceptable? – Michael, NSW

Q: Our upstairs neighbours have hard floor coverings throughout (were are told this was done prior to our purchase, and with relevant approvals)

However, we feel that noise transmission levels are such that our reasonable enjoyment of our residence is affected.

Are there any tests that can be undertaken to confirm if noise transmission levels are above what is considered acceptable?

A: It may be best to refer to your strata by-laws, as well as consult with your strata manager to resolve this issue.

There may be tests that can be undertaken, although you may not need to go to such lengths to resolve the noise issues.
