Q: I am finding the Strata Manager is dragging out changes to a by-law regarding timber flooring. I initiated the change which has been agreed to but now I find the strata Manager is avoiding my calls as to the timely settlement of the matter. I’m not sure if the body corporate have told her to do a go slow on this or whether it is her stalling on it. I would have thought the Strata Management must act in my interest as well as for the other lots holders. I fear it is very one sided at the moment. How can I complain about it.

A: In the first instance, it may be best to make a complaint to the strata management company. If communication with your strata manager has proven unsuccessful and you are unable to get a response, the strata management company may be able to prompt the strata manager to help move things along.
Alternatively, if the above does not help the matter, you may wish to take it up with the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). It will be helpful to your cause if you are able to provide evidence of repeated failed communication attempts and/or unreasonably long response times.
