Q: One of the buildings we operate in has imposed restrictive by-laws for short-term letting. I did not think this was allowed. Do you have any advice relating to this? – Lee, QLD

A: Queensland does not allow body corporates to enforce restrictions through by-laws in the area of short-term letting for buildings registered under the Body Corporate and Community Management Act and Regulations.

This means that if you’re a property owner and you choose to let out your residential unit on Airbnb, the body corporate cannot stop you from doing so.
