Is it possible to prevent real estate agents from displaying for sale or rent signs in a commonly owned garden of our home units? – Rosemary, QLD

Q: Is it possible to prevent real estate agents from displaying for sale or rent signs in a commonly owned garden of our home units? Since most properties are advertised via the internet these days, is it necessary to have huge signs erected (and sometimes left standing there for months after the sale or lease has been completed)? What is the best way to inform estate agents that your property no longer accepts signs placed on the property?

A: If you want to control this, it may be best to look into drafting and registering a building rule that prevents signs being erected on common property.
