Hi Leanne, whilst it is admirable that you want to self manage the strata scheme, please do not underestimate the amount of time and effort it takes to do so.

Most importantly abiding by the legislation is the tricky bit when self managing strata schemes. If you are not happy with the current agent, perhaps shop around before committing to self managing this scheme.

However, if you wish to proceed you will need to check the contract with the current managing agent as to the termination conditions. If exiting the agreement earlier than previously agreed, there may be a termination fee. Termination of a managing agent can only be perfomed at a general meeting by a majority vote.
