I have been having serious problems with a neighbour, and my strata manager is ignoring all my emails/complaints for last 6 yrs. – Carole, NSW
I have been having serious problems with a neighbour, and my strata manager is ignoring all my e mails/complaints for last 6 yrs. It is affecting my health, neighbour is renting /I own my unit. I am nearly going mad.
There are 2 ways this can be dealt with:
- If the neighbour in question and yourself are the only ones involved in this dispute, there is not much the owners corporation can do. You can then apply to Fair Trading for mediation with the neighbour to resolve the issue.
- If the other owners are experiencing the same frustration with the resident at the strata plan then the strata manger should act on behalf of the owners corporation and should seek direction from the Strata Committee. The manager can either contact the managing agent for the tenant and explain the issue and seek resolution.
Depending if the neighbours behaviour is breaching any by-laws at the plan, then the strata manager can issue a breach of by-law notice. If this continues the matter can be escalated.
