I am going to move into a new apartment and I checked the gas oven. A burner does not need to be pushed down for gas flow and immediately, as soon as you turn it, the gas will flow automatically. I just wanted to check if this is good to use or if this should be fixed. – Matt, NSW

Q: I am going to move into a new apartment and I checked the gas oven.

The oven is set up as following: 4 burners with 4 different burner control knobs. To get the gas flowing 3 of the knobs have to be turned to the middle and then press down to start the gas flow, then ignite it with a separate button.

1 burner though does not need to be pushed down for gas flow and immediately, as soon as you turn it, the gas will flow automatically.

I just wanted to check if this is good to use or if this should be fixed and the gas should only flow when the knob has been turned to the middle and pressed down.

A: As the oven is within your lot this is not a common property or strata matter. You should contact the manufacturer of the oven to ensure the burners are operating safely.
