Q: Hi. I have a large balcony in my apartment. I want to add wood tiles or wood decking on top of the current tiles. No structural changes. May use Bunnings style modular system. Question. Do I need to notify or ask strata permission to do this?

A: Since the wood tiles/decking are cosmetic works and are therefore superficial changes to the look and feel of your property, you will not need to have committee approval to carry it out.

While making cosmetic renovations within your property, keep in mind that you would be responsible for any damage to common property as a result of the renovations.
