Can you assist with advice and contacts regarding Electric Charging facilities in our unit block of 22 units?- Greg, NSW

Q: Can you assist with advice and contacts ,other than the State Gov’s advice, as to what we need to do and to fully understand what we should do regarding Electric Charging facilities in our unit block of 22 units, please.
Some examples of units that have done this would be a great advantage.

A: There are a number of considerations when it comes to electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities.
Installing EV infrastructure can be a sizeable project. Some of the key factors to consider include:
• Strata legislation
• Assessing demand and feasibility
• Upgrading existing infrastructure or the electrical ‘backbone’
• Managing installation
• Ongoing operational costs and billing
• Perceptions of ‘fairness’ and disputes arising from the use of common property
• The cost of the EV charging infrastructure: what are the expected running and maintenance costs?
• The ownership model: will the owners corporation fund it, or will individual owners fund and own it?
• The availability of the EV charging infrastructure: Will it be made available to all owners or all owners with at least one car space on the title? Will it only be available to a subset of owners who fund the EV charging infrastructure?
• Will it be available to studio apartment owners who may not have a car space?

The NSW Office of Climate and Energy has published guidance for strata owners and managers on adopting EV charging infrastructure, including surveys, costing, and suppliers.
