Q: I have a townhouse in QLD where the security screen door is damaged due to being forced open leave the door buckled and a bent track. It is unknown how long ago this happened as I am the new owner. Who is responsible for the repair/replacement of the security screen door?
A: It’s best to refer to your building format plan or by-laws to see whether the door is counted as lot owner property or common property. If it is a part of your lot/apartment, it will be your responsibility to repair/replace it. If, however, the door is considered common property then your committee will be responsible for repairs/replacements.
