Our strata property has three lots and it is managed by a strata manager. The other two owners are keen to switch to self-managed. I’m very uncomfortable about this due to the work and risks involved. Is there anything I can do to prevent a move to self-managed if the other owners decide they want to go through with it? – David, NSW
Q: Our strata property has three lots and it is managed by a strata manager.
The other two owners are keen to switch to self-managed. I’m very uncomfortable about this due to the work and risks involved.
As I am at a 2-1 minority. Is there anything I can do to prevent a move to self-managed if the other owners decide they want to go through with it?
A: Due to the way voting works, majority rules.
What you can try to do is convince the other owners to stay with the strata manager or change to another one that they may be more inclined to stay on with.
