How will visitors to the property know you can’t smoke here? – Roslyn, NSW

Q: Smoking has recently been banned on common grounds in my unit block (including ALL balconies). However, if there is a tradesperson or visitor to the block, they do not know that smoking is now banned. Is it a requirement of strata to place signs around the building and balconies? How will visitors to the property know you can’t smoke here?

A: It is not a requirement for strata to place signs around the buildings. The responsibility is on the residents to advise visitors of the relevant by-laws that apply.
